Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 is the newest edition of the Lamborghini line and the designers have put a lot of time and effort into redesigning almost everything, from the design of both interior and exterior to the electronics, the brake system, suspensions and the engine itself. Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 was first introduced at the 2006 International car show at the Geneva and will be available in spring of 2006.
The engine of the car has gone through a radical redesign compared to the first Murcielago model, it has gone from 6,12 liter engine to bigger capacity of 6,5 liters while the engine power has gone to 640 bhp at 8000 rpm (hence 640 in the name of this model). This makes the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 the fastest car in its class, as car itself can speed up from 0 – 100 km/h in only 3.4 seconds which is 0.4 seconds faster then the 6,2 model. The LP in the name refers to the position of the engine or as Italians call it longitudinale posteriore (or longitudinally mounted) (hence the LP in the name).
The brake system has also gone through significant changes, as with the purpose to ensure deceleration values, the dual hydraulic brake system
has been equipped with the vacuum brake booster.
And while the designers have outdid themselves by brining more luxury to the interior design, with more comfortable seats and the most modern multimedia system used for the instrumental panel, it is the exterior design that makes this model stand out in the crowd. Sticking to the philosophy of sport, speed and function when it comes to this exceptional aerodynamic model, the scissors door are still part of the frame, however front and rear bumpers are new to this particular model. Also the newcomers are the rear lights, which make Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 hard to miss even in the dark.
